CBE Choir Annual Music Shabbat Through the Golden Door: Bringing Jewish Voices to America Friday, April 27 • 7:30 PM
The Beth Elohim Choir presents at its annual music Shabbat. This year's service is inspired by a topic much in the news: immigration, specifically the waves of Jewish immigration that have taken place over the last 100 years.
All of the pieces to be sung by the choir in this service were written by composers who were born in other countries, but came to America and found expanded opportunity to pursue their art. Whether seeking refuge from the pogroms of Russia, horrors of the Nazis, the repressive regime of the Soviet Union, or just a better life, many Jewish composers truly found their voices in America.
Our service will include a Sermon in Song with music in four languages - Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and English, reflecting the diverse nature of this immigrant community of musicians. You don't want to miss this always popular annual choir event!
