There are many ways to participate as a family at CBE, both through the many creative services offered, such as the Ruach Shabbat and the Tot Shabbat services amd offerings through the school.
Class programs include Challah-Day, a long running and sweet program in grade one where parents and students learn the secrets to challah making and braiding. Our Gan class (kindergarten) holds a family scavenger hunt to introduce the families to the synagogue. Our Gimel/Dalet class holds an annual family Chanukah party. Our Zayin class (grade seven) holds a yearly family program with the Anti-Defamation League on the topic of confronting anti-semitism and families together attend the annual Holocaust Memorial commemoration at Fanueil Hall in Boston. Our Hay class (grade 3-4) has its annual Creative Seder where parents and children together work to present different aspects of the seder in meaningful and often entertaining ways.
We encourage other unique ways for our families to enhance their Jewish experience as a family. Families in grade two and above are encouraged to participate together in our annual Purim Shpiel. The Shpiel is a long term project which has families working together which culminates in the premier performances at CBE! Families are encouraged to work together on our annual menorah contest. Various social action programs give families the opportunity to act as a family together, which helps to cement the idea that Tikum Olam (Helping to put the world back together) is a Jewish thing to do.
